I have used Zone Alarm, Norton, and a few others, and I always come back to McAfee Personal Firewall.......
Very user friendly, easy to set up, and will tell you in GREAT DETAIL what is happening with your internet connection....
The built-in firewall in Win XP is a JOKE.... Disable it and get a REAL firewall.....
