You can do what this guy says for one, and then copy all your audio files from the audio folder on the disc to your hard drive. That will improve disk performance quite a bit. GTA 3 engine is a lilttle rough around the edges though.. I suggest buying GTA: Vice City.. the engine seems to be very well refined.
