Someone will probably tell you about Import player utility, but I never found it to work on anything.
Your best bet for playing real PAL mode in America is to find an RGB Monitor. I used to have a Commodore Amiga monitor with a home made RGB cable to my PSX. Absolutely brilliant picture!
I wish I still had it because I haven’t seen a PSX screen look so clear since (except ePSXe emulator on my PC)
I have seen a PC monitor with component RCA inputs (separate RGBC inputs) aside from the VGA cable and I believe you can buy or at least build a PSX RGB cable.
Back of PSX AV port

01 - Ground
02 - Left Audio out
03 - Ground
04 - Right Audio out
05 - Comp. Sync
06 - Video Out
07 - C -??
08 - Ground
09 - Blue
10 - +5v
11 - Red
12 – Green
You need a monitor that accepts the RGB and Comp. Sync, Like an Amiga monitor! Have a look in some pawn shops. If I remember correctly, the Amiga monitor also needed some POT adjustments to get the whole PAL screen as will most monitors.
My NTSC PSX hooked to my OLD 25” floor model will run PAL because it has the H-Hold adjustment but the 7501 PSX does not output a good PAL screen from the Video line There is red lines and green looks yellow. That is why you need to use the RGB lines. But a PAL PSX should have a decent video output As long as the NTSC TV Set does not roll. I would imagine a PAL PSX would have a messed up looking NTSC output.
