I disabled the wave device for voice modem and tried it again with enabled sound and...............PERFECT! My sound card is a SB Audigy. The problem seems to be Too much demand on the mobo resources bearing in mind the powerful graphics card/sound card/processor etc. I would suggest trying it with the sound card disabled first and see what happens.

I disabled my sound (Onboard AC'97) and the game worked perfectly. After I turned it back on it still worked fine. I hope it continues to do so but I really think what you said is my problem. Sound is definitly one thing I want to have so if and when it starts to happen again what should I do? I don't use a modem (I have an Ethernet card) and the only thing thats turned up in my bios thats related to my AGP port is the 8X feature which I really want to keep since my video card supports it.
