The type of cd-r you get doesn't really matter a whole lot. The ps2 isn't very picky when it comes to cd-r. I would use dvd-r as it is more liked by all versions of ps2 and is usually cheaper than +r.
http://www.blankdiscshop.co.uk has both Ritek and Traxdata dvd-r. Get some of those. They are the best in all the land.
