when copied dc games first came out thet need to use a utopia boot cd that you put in your DC for about 20 seconds until you saw a please insert cd. these games came out in usually a .bin & .cue format, which you could use cdrwin, clone cd, and a slew of other programs to copy the dc games (not orogonals).
about 2 months into the DC scene, 1 of the groups (kalisto) started releasing DC games in .cdi format, which the benefit is that you no longer need a boot disk. these disks boot up like store bought games. the problem is that many peolple with older burners can't burn these games, with DJ.
clone works great on non booting dc games. you need to see if clone cdand your cd writer support multisession together. mine does not (yamaha 8424 ide). i just use DJ2.0 for self booting releases.
