It all depends on the particular connection of each type. Generally speaking, the maximum speed that you are able to download using a dial up connection is 5 kilobytes per second. Consider this:
1 Megabyte = 1000 Kilobytes
1 Dreamcast game = 300 - 800 Megabytes

You do the math. It can be done, just not much fun.

Cable speed can vary depending on your location and deal you get from your provider. Same with satellite
