Generally applications don't use any copy protection at all. But try using cdkiller's copy protection detector >>

It may be that your cd is dirty or badly scratched, or the laser in your cd-rom is a bad reader.
Try cleaning the cd with a soft cloth, rubbing from the inside to the outside (not circular). And try a different cd-rom if you can.
