It's in the game exe but Deviance didn't take them out cos they never do. They usually use a generic unwrapper to take out the protection - but with this game they probably done it manually cos of the problems with the FADE protection.
But generally Deviance leave the cd-checks in - and have made cdkiller's job a lot harder by encrypting it too
