Well, just finally did my neighbor's brother's PS2.
He went against my advice and ordered a GENERIC Magic3 from some no-name outfit. Bleh.
Then he's all amazed that all he gets is a chip, no instructions or wires.
So, I rip open his PS2 (version 4 gap bios), and it's all disgusting and dirty inside. I figure the $25 he's giving me doesn't EVEN cover this...
But I begin.
Now, some thoughts:
1. Whoever designed the magic was a complete and utter f***ing moron. Wires from all different places have to go next to each other, making it nearly impossible to do a nice neat cable route.
2. It ran like a champ afterwards, although I didn't even bother testing DVD9 games or anything really challenging.
3. I'm handier with a soldering iron than I remember.
4. I'm ordering an Apple for myself. No more of this 25-wire BS.
