Just to clarify, when we talk about emulation, we (well I at least
) mean using Daemon Tools/Alcohol120% to run a copy without some safedisc 2/securom specific data. Thus we emulate certain function calls of those protections. While securom new can't be EXACTLY copied, you CAN make a NEAR 100% backup of it which works more or less, without using Daemon Tools/Alcohol120% to run the game. The problem is that this backup can't be copied itself. So if you copied such a blindwrite made backup, you would need to run Alcohol120%/Dameon Tools in emulation mode to get it to work. The original backup would work fine (but could be defeated by later protection upgrades in patches). So yes, you can make a backup that works. But guard the original with your life and use the backup in real life, because only the original can give you new backups.
