all dvd-r are compatible with PS2. That doesn't mean tha games will read well from the dvd-r.

If the dvd-r's use ritek dye ( dark purple and usually stated somewhere in the ad) then they should be fine but it's always best to err on the side of caution and go for tried and tested ( Traxdata,Ritek dark purple, dvdmaster etc).

Alternatively u can be the guinea pig and give these a go.

If u get some try backing up 'The getaway', GTAVice City, Timesplitters 2 and Max Payne.

If these work without freezing and take the same time to load up as the originals then the dvd-r's should be fine to use.

It's also worth noting that some cheap dvd-r degrade over time so what might appear to be a perfect back-up initially might not even boot after a few months.
