1. 600K sounds realistic to me. I just can't believe running a DHCP service would be 11 times slower. I'll like to check that out and understand why if that's true.
2. well, setting your network "up right" is a pretty broad statement!

The bottom line is the Xbox and comp need to know each others addresses whether the Xbox runs DHCP and assigns for the comp or the other way around or a router does it for them but a hub has nothing to due with DHCP.
3. I'm just tryin to make sure what he means by "Ethernet to Ethernet". I've heard people call NICs, RJ45 ports and jacks, cables, and their home ethernet based network "ethernets".
I want to see the 11 time faster speeds but I'm not sure if Saulin incorrectly stated the speeds or just his terminology is a bit off or different. I think I'll have to try it with DHCP and static and compare them.
