Here's a few tricks to try:

A) Make sure your harddrive is error checked and defragged.

B) Under Options, set the following:
Premastering -> Pre-fetch File Size -> All Files
Defaults -> Cache CD (checked)
I/O -> Asynchronous I/O -> L2 Cache -> 8 Seconds

C) Make sure your Windows/Temp directory is cleared.
