Make sure you use the correct nocd for the correct version. Don't forget to apply the necessary patches first. I don't know if it's the same with you but a few weeks ago someone had similar problems and it turned out he forgot to apply the official patch first so his nocd and the rest of the game were different versions. The symptoms seem to indicate different versions, so check both.
