Firstly, it is not uncommon for copies only to work in certain readers. Have you tried any other SD2 titles? Many SD2 titles won't even run/install from originals on some cdroms. Max Payne is a classic. They had to release an update almost immediately as it wouldn't run from some drives.
To be sure it's SD2, use DeCode's Safedisc Analyser (see link above) and analyse the .exe files on the cd, as well as those found after install.
Also, you don't need subchannel data ticked in read....SD1 and SD2 doesn't use it.
And latest versions of SD2 check the ATIP of a cd to see if it's pressed silver or a cdr/cdrw. I.e. it will only run fromma cdrom....further narrowing down the drive options.
I have checked the CD with Safedisc Analyser
According to that it's "V2.30.031"
So I presume it is Safedisc2 protection used, I'll try to burn it to a CD-R(instead of CD-RW) and read the original with the burner instead of the Toshiba DVD..
