I cant be sure that the protection is sd2 as proxylok now pretends to be sd2 by copying the characteristics of sd2.
however correct emf encoding is not required?

well proxylok originals dont work with aopen cdroms, although most software companys will release a game update that fixes this problem.
(this happened in gangsters 2).
try updating the game with a offical update, and compare the "wrong cd msg" with the one from sd2 ... it should say "no cd or incorrect disk inserted" - if it says anything different from this then its not sd2 and hence your problem in that the protection is likely to be proxylok.
all sd2 backups either 100% work (correct emf encoding)
fail 100% or
work only in the burner which created them (or so im told).
thus it is unlikely that if you backup works in drives other than your burner but no in all drives, then the protection is proxylok NOT SD2.
