It is possible to fit the movie on one dvd-r. You will have to remove extras and the audio streams you dont use and such. If that still isn't enough you can either put it on a double sided dvd-r, two dvd-r, or encode the video to a lower bitrate to it will fit on one dvd-r. You can read the tutorials to to this at
