Yes, It is possible providing you have a dvd-rom (to read the disc) and a cd writer....
In my opinion its a waste of time and too much trouble.....
Use the search button on the forum and search for "ripping"... You should find most of your answers....
And of course you will need a GOOD mod chip to play the dvd-rips.
