the PS2 can be very fussy on what dvd-r media it reads.
my advice would be if you want perfect backups 1st time go for the bigger boys such as TDK/Verbatim etc. If you are prepared to test out cheaper brand media then cerry on until you find the right disc for you (you might get lucky
