my question is this, they also list bootdisk's for dreamcast and ps1. does anyone know if those work? if they do then what would be the reason not to believe this wont work on ps2 [/QUOTE] Yes there is a downloadable boot cd for dreamcast that doesnt require a modchip to work. There is a P-s-x change boot disc for PSX but it must be a original to boot backups without a modchip. The PS2 is a totally different story. Im not going to get technical (Charlie can probably explain this alot better than me) but a PS2 boots 4 different types of media. PSX, PS2 compact disc, PS2 dvd games and dvd movies. The PS2 must preform a check to see what format of media is inserted and then it loads. This is why a messiah is worth every penny, There isnt and never will be a boot disc that can preform all the functions required to boot all types of backups without a modchip. Again, i am not going to get technical but trust me....The boot disc wont work
