You "COULD" still burn with your HP....You will just have to go through patching and other bull......As low as cd writers are now, It would be alot easier to just get another one....
Mine is a LG GCE-8320B....I paid $55.00 (US) for it...(Brand new in the retail box)
There are all types of different brands that will work well for you...
