The Pioneer A04/104 is the "Proven" winner for PS2 backups...
Yes, you can backup DVD movies with it, but its not as easy as backing up PS2 games....(Its way to involved to go into now)
As far as the DVD-R,DVD+R, and DVD-RAM.......They are different formats of dvd's.....
The DVD-R is the one that most everyone uses for PS2 backups..
The DVD+R is a newer format that "may" become more popular as time goes on....
The DVD-RAM is junk for PS2 backups.....

Just stay with the A04...Its DVD-R format and is a GREAT burner...
