Actually, what I wanted was an "audio entertainment system" (depends on how you look at it) , be it a hi-fi, home entertainment system, or just a pair of speakers and receiver that can be hooked up to the ps 2, for better sound quality during gameplay.
My average budget would be around US$ 250 ++. Where I'm currently living, the conversion rate comes up to probably 1k!!!
So, I am looking for a MODERATELY priced device that can do the job (let ps 2 hook up its audio plugs to it).
I've heard Sony has this thing built into its hi-fi's called game-sync that lets a psx (and probably ps 2) hook up to it. Are these expensive?
Basically, which would be cheaper, a speaker set and receiver, or a hi-fi?
Since I already have a vcd and cd capable hi-fi, I just thought that buying a new hi-fi with an added dvd mode would save me more money in the long run, instead of buying a speaker set and receiver.
Just to make things simple, which do you think would save me more money and value:
1) Buy a set of speakers and a receiver, and get a separate dvd player later (I heard that playing too many formats on the ps 2 gives it more wear and tear, and it breaks up faster)
2) Buy an audio-in capable hi-fi with dvd option
