You didn't mention what software came with your A04....
Try using Primo DVD.....
Follow this tutorial written by Charlie_PS2 to the letter and you should have no problems....

You should not have to patch DVD games since they are not protected (YET)....
Patching is not just for PAL-NTSC... Its also used for patching certain copy protections such as EA protected games....
