Try this it works for me in Lan games.
Press multiplayer and when it goes to sign you on turn off you dsl or cable modem and it will say it was unable to connect to master server some options will not be available. Turn it back on and start you lan game. Hope this helps someone
Not the best fix, but atleast I can play LAN games without buying another copy.
