Lightbulb 650+ megs CD-Rs with a Gameshark v2.1x & no solder chips

I've wasted at least 5 CD trying to copy Tsugunai: Atonement until I finally realized that the CD was over the size limit of the game shark. So, to use the same properties as swapping a large TOC DVD-R, I tried a large CD-R.

Low and behold, it works.

Since I have a gameshark 2 v2.12, you have to go through some hoops to get your copies to work.

* Stick in your gameshark 2 and at the menu screen press eject (normally) and insert a large CD. (First I tried the original game, a PS2 original over 650 megs, then I even tried a PSX original game [even final fantasy vii worked])

* wait about 15 seconds and select gameshark codes

* pick any game and turn on or off any codes (this is needed so the gameshark can "update" and give you enough time to swap the discs later) I'm sure if you lookup "dummy code" in this forum you'll find an easy way to make a fake gameshark code that should always work because sometimes picking any game won't.

* press start to select the updated codes

* press x, and right away hold the eject button until the yellow light comes on to make the swap while the screen is saying "updating codes". The disc goes back automatically and boots!

I'm still looking for another way to avoid this and have seen a patch that converts Tsugunai into less than 600 megs but have not seen where to download the patch. I'd appreiate any comments or suggestions.

Thanks to all who have posted the DVD-R swap before, there's nothing you guys can't do : )
