Hello to all in these forums,
I am new to this site, and have just registered for posting.
In response to your spont. reboots, I have seen this mentioned in every type of forum that I belong to; It is not just a AMD problem, or a VIA chipset problem. It is happening with Intel, SIS, ALI and VIa together, regardless of mobo or processor.
I was having the same problem under intense cpu load but usually when incoding/decoding .vob files. HEat was not an issue, and I am fairly certain that drivers are not the issue (of any type)
I build a lot of computers, and am very familiar with the hardware. One item that I reset in WinXP under Administrative tools was to disable the IMAPI burning CD client, and my reboots have stopped. The native burning program was written by Roxio (Adaptec) for MSoft, and it seems to interfere with other aftermarket burning, and other video/audio programs.
This may sound strange, because most people are not "using" their burner when this happens, but it works (for me)

This is a MS issue, not a hardware issue. With so many resident/native programs running in the background, this lays a fertile area for conflicts. Check your Events schedule in Ad. tools for the errors that occured at the time of the reboot; they are all system conflicts. By just disabling the auto restart feature, you will be inviting the old Win98 lockups, in which case, ;you will have to reboot and the chkdisc will run.

Hope this helps,
Phil

PS I am very new to this game protection stuff, and am basically making a lot of frizbies for discs. If someone can get me started, I would sure appreciate it.
