Will I have to go into my computer to find out the "true" manufacturer of my DVD-ROM? The driver is by Microsoft according to properties linked to my DVD-ROM. Thanks.

I searched HP's web site for firmware to no avail. I have an HP pavilion 774e with a 16x dvd-rom. It also has a 200 series dvd-writer.

Do you have to use firmware created for your particular dvd-rom? Or is it generic? I'm not familiar with this but I have the issue of my computer not reading the dvd's I'm creating on a dvd recorder....
