you might want to upgrade the bios while you are at it, I upgraded from 1.05 to 1.08 - that might help

Your bios settings should tell you what is master...

Your bios settings should tell you what is master and what is slave - then you can swap the cables and/or jumpers if necessary.

While I was at it, I also updated the firmware from 1.05 to 1.08....

that must have been it - I switched the drives and have made 2 perfectly good DVD's - thanks so much!!!!

If this is the case, why wouldn't "they" have built the PC this way - geesh.

It's set up as a secondary slave with a Reg CD...

It's set up as a secondary slave with a Reg CD player as secondary master.

It burns about 1/4 of the DVD, then craps out - same place everytime, any kind of DVD.

I have an NEC DVD-RW 1300A. Used CloneDVD and DVDXCopy platinum to try and burn a copy of my video. Small video - about 3G - well under the 4+ GbLimit. (Have AnyDVD 3.2.0.1 running as well)
