repair gamecube discs

All of a sudden my kids gamecube disks won't work - just gives message "Please insert disk". Only 2 that will work. I've cleaned them, they don't look bad, but won't work.

ATIP and CD-R

Now I understand why it will work on my other computer which has a plain vanilla cdrom without r/w capability. If I use the DVD drive I wonder if it will work too?

Question copy HOMM4 with CloneCD set to hide cd-r media works - why?
