Classification of files based to the sectors of the masks. Automatic activation of the choice of the lists of names of the masks based in the scanning results of the files. Creation of masked methods based on your compression needs, with insertion of masked methods divided into 5 parts (Method, Text, Void, Deflate, MSRsolid). Final insertion of the complete method in output, copy it, and use it with your preferred utility or compressor app. A well structured masked method improves the compression ratio and the compression time of any data packet, with the possibility of excluding the non-compressible files, or the choice to select groups of files to be compressed with different algorithms. Beta Test....:p |
great work but i think more could be done other than remaking more or less the same thing, like for example scanning file contents to be able to determine what method should really be used, like for example, in arc.groups, you may set cas files from ea games to be under deflate group but what if they actually used lz4? I think scanning should not only rely on file extension if you really wanted to make something real innovative.

mmm, the utility it is based on the structure arc.group, used as reading for the selection of the files and compression masked in the different methods, but logically a file with the extension *.CAS, it can be structured with streams or not, for be directed automatically the file in a "deflate" or "void" mask should be first examined, scanned with one of your tools (DS4 LZ4/DS4 zLIB), and then inserted.
I do not have the source code to scan and verify the structure of the files, the utily was created to exploit in the best way the masked methods, in order to avoid adding unnecessary masks to unnecessary files, but if a file extension (*.dat) it is not a video but other, is a whole other story. |

The other reason I suggested something more innovative is simply because games nowadays come up with their own extensions and they don't rely based on what we know, these files are just simply compressed using the general compression method even if they have media streams so that msc can process them and etc. I mean it shouldn't really be that difficult to scan for file signatures within files, there is something also called entropy, you could have included that for sorting out files that can never be compressed properly with srep and lzma, extensions will not cut it. Sorry to be a critic but this tool does more or less the same thing as FA doing it via arc.groups by itself, just that this tool will show you what's going where. PS: I haven't tried program, I just looked at screenshots. |
LZX is back ......Puag!
