ASC Survey
Alright guys, I am proud to announce that the project is finished. The main program and the setup itself is complete, however, I want to hear from you guys, what compression should it use.
Option 1: Advantages: It will create archives for you. It will split archives and make disc splitting. It will make either zip or cab type of archives. Disadvantages: You can't make conversions without people editing your work. Splits cannot be bigger than 2gb. Compression is not that good, even rar is better. Worst compression ratios. Takes very long to decompress and compress compared to freearc on a slow pc. Option 2: Advantages: You have options of freearc, 7zip and winrar compression. You can have srep, precomp or even nanozip as external compressors. It will be able to download files from the internet if any for you. It will support ultraarc. It will support conversion creation. Good compression results. Disadvantages: You have to create archives by yourself. 7zip progress is not accurate for files larger than 3gb. Guys, just choose you best option, and tell me your reason. This thread will be removed in 5 days. |
Myself, I choose option 2, because it is easy to put in ASC compared to option 1 (programming isn't easy)
|
Personally i prefer option 2
|
Option 2 for me is the most convenient.
|
Option 2 ;)
|
me too, me too, option 2 ;)
|
option 2

@Razor
I've just noticed you asked for 'reasons'. The disadvantages in Option 1 are far greater than Option 2 The 7zip Progress Bar is not really a disadvantage as you can still use 7zip but with a slight limitation. Plus not many would really use 7zip for compressing in my opinion. |
Option 2. because its disadvantages are not high as compared to option 1 and it is more convenient.
|
Option 2 all the way...
Thanks for this project bro |
Option 2 :)
|
with all these disadvantages in option 1:

obviously 2

I will choose the Option 2 bro!
|
Well, it is quite obvious, but I want you members to blame yourselves if you didn't choose wisely.
