Drakensang - TRoT
 

Here is an installer for Drakensang The River of Time. It is a good old RPG that didn’t have the setup it’s worth and no alternative was issued on the forum
My conversion is based on CIU by Yener but moded to fix a couple of stuffs and made it for my taste. New features were also coded in autorun.exe as the outline effect of button texts.

Here is how to use it:

1- Install the original game. Move unins000.dat and unis000.exe original file in a temp folder.
2 – Compress the content of the game directory with FreeArc. The following config gives good results (5Go --> 2Go):
a -ep1 -r -ed -lc2048 -ld512 -mt2 -mlzma:a1:mfbt4:d158m:fb273:mc1000:lc8 "C:\temp\Setup-1.cab" -dp"C:\Program Files (x86)\Drakensang - The River of Time" *
The archive file name has to be Setup-1.cab. Original unins000.xxx files can now be restored and the game uninstalled with the original setup.
3-Deflate the attached archive in a temp folder. In the Support folder, you can copy the game manual according to the drakencode file model included. The localization is managed as follows:
Manual_XX.pdf with XX is DE for german, FR for French and so on. Whatever, it is recommend to put the English version without extension (ie Manual.pdf) as it’s the default one selected if none other is available.
4-Copy the Setup-1.cab in the temp folder and run the setup.exe to test the installer.

Tested on Win7 x64
Language supported: en, fr, de

Try with Phileassons Secret addon installed on top. Compression rate at HDD speed, compress about 2,30 minutes, install in about 2 minutes. Dimension of dvd=3,7 Gb
Tested on Win 7 32bits. Some small errors:

Thanks for the feedback Tibi. The cause of the first error is easy to identify and I uploaded a revision of the installer that should fix it.
For the second one, it’s more difficult because I don’t have a Win7 32 bit to test and I don’t reproduce the error with my machine. Can you tell me if the last error message occurred just after the completing page is displayed or once the finish button is pressed?
Did you compress the game in a single .cab file or split into 2 archives?

Hey Dante or other experienced folks: may be the installer with 32 bit system that doesn't support archives bigger than 2Go ?
And FYI, I didn't force the installer in 64 bit

I do not know what it depends 100%, I only read the error message in the screenshot ..

The second error appears before I press the finish button. And I don't split the archive. Its only one about 3,7 Gb
