nice job on the choices V1 vs V2 ;)

thedeamon 30-04-2014 01:05

just figured to include compression within freearc as follows:

arc a -ep1 -r -w.\ -m=rep:1024mb+mm+delta+dispack+4x4:lzma:ultra:50mb -mm [email protected] [email protected] [email protected] [email protected] [email protected] -dp"C:\Program Files (x86)\Activision Blizzard\Diablo III" .

In the package, just modify the compress.bat file with the -m0 option with the following:

"-m=rep:1024mb+mm+delta+dispack+4x4:lzma:ultra:50mb -mm"

Ref: http://martin.ankerl.com/2012/06/07/...sion-settings/

Usage: Arc command [options...] archive [files... @listfiles...]
Commands:
a add files to archive
e extract files from archive ignoring pathnames
r recover archive using recovery record
x extract files from archive
Options:

-dpDIR --diskpath=DIR base DIR on disk
-epMODE --ExcludePath=MODE Exclude/expand path MODE
-mMETHOD --method=METHOD compression METHOD (-m0..-m9, -m1x..-m9x)
-mmMODE --multimedia=MODE set multimedia compression to MODE
-ms --StoreCompressed store already compressed files
-mtTHREADS --MultiThreaded=THREADS number of compression THREADS
-mx maximum internal compression mode
-nFILESPECS --include=FILESPECS include only files matching FILESPECS
-r --recursive recursively collect files
-wDIRECTORY --workdir=DIRECTORY DIRECTORY for temporary files
-xFILESPECS --exclude=FILESPECS exclude FILESPECS from operation

Just test and report back cab sizes. I think its still 4xdvd5.

thedeamon 30-04-2014 10:25

yes, I was able to save just 600MB with the argument....still needs 4 x DVD5.

For those who like 2 x DVD9, here is the content of .lst files:

Data1:

*
Data_D3\PC\MPQs\Cache\*
Data_D3\PC\MPQs\enGB\*
Data_D3\PC\MPQs\Win\*
Data_D3\PC\MPQs\base-Win.mpq
Data_D3\PC\MPQs\ClientData.mpq
Data_D3\PC\MPQs\CoreData.mpq
Data_D3\PC\MPQs\HLSLShaders.mpq
Data_D3\PC\MPQs\Sound.mpq

Data2:

Data_D3\PC\MPQs\enGB_Cutscene.mpq
Data_D3\PC\MPQs\enGB_Text.mpq
Data_D3\PC\MPQs\enGB_Audio.mpq
Data_D3\PC\MPQs\Texture.mpq

Data3/4/5 list files not reqd in 2xDVD9 setup build.

thedeamon 22-05-2014 02:07

Since the 2.05 update, the following is seen:

Creating Data.cab's, please wait...

FreeArc 0.67 (March 15 2014) creating archive: .\D3RoS_1\Data1.cab
Compressing 81 files, 10,752,972,167 bytes. Processed 27.3%

Data1.lst entry of * seems to be creating a 10GB Data1.CAB

Is it possible to fix?

For a 2xDVD9 config, do we need a new build of the installer EXE? If yes, please provide one.

thedeamon 22-05-2014 02:51

Fixed the 10GB Data1.CAB issue.

Creating Data.cab's, please wait...

FreeArc 0.67 (March 15 2014) creating archive: .\D3RoS_1\Data1.cab
Compressing 72 files, 4,895,168,151 bytes. Processed 50.3%

Issue was , I forgot to update Data4/5.lst files with correct language entries.

However, for 2xDVD9 config, we do need a new build of the installer EXE? If yes, please provide one in a separate thread.

Also realised keeping compression option as m6 instead "-m0" , we get a decent compression too viz time to compress.

KaktoR 22-05-2014 03:12

I will check this. Be patient.

edit: As "thedeamon" says at post #6, with strong compression its still 4xDVD5. Therefore higher compression doesn't make sense ;)

I will build a new exe for DVD9 version and post this in a seperate thread.

Not going to happen. The only way you can get the source is via 'yener', and he no longer visits.
It was a 'Private' release to only a selected few, it was never meant to be public, be happy with what you get from those selected few.
And if you continue to spam the forums asking for it, you will be banned. End of story. ;)

Not that much. If you are interested in, just test with precomp for file "CoreData.mpq". Just in this moment i test it with "Textures.mpq".

Just replace filename in Test.bat and start.
