MP3 files have changed in my documents
 

I don't know what i did, but my MP3 files stored in the, My Documents folder have changed in how they are listed. All of a sudden mp3 is listed at the end of all songs. I am not talking about the other columns where you can list the bit rate, file size, length, etc.

Prior listing used to look like this for a typical song in my music folders:

David Bowie - Sound and Vision

Current listing:

David Bowie - Sound and Vision.mp3

The mp3 at the end of my songs has never been there before listed. I want to remove it and don't know how to change it. I have various music folders in my documents and all of them have changed to this new look. Plus I use rhapsody media player but if I switch the mp3 files in my folders to windows media player, it does the same thing.

Could someone please help me get rid of the mp3 listed on each music file?

It's in the Folder options, something like "Hide the extension of known file types". It's not safe, though, see the problem with virus attachments playing with double file extensions.
