Rage dvd9 to 4xdvd5
 

hi i've created a inno script basing it on the witcher 2 script...i've excluded the mp folder so it fits on 3 dvd5(if in the script you add mp folder the game fits in 5 dvd5) and i added rage.ico so the setup has the icon of the game...here my script enjoy. the script also is made for italian language...

what's the size if you rip out mp and all non-eng langs?

the game itself without MP and eng only = 14.3GB uncompressed
and it only includes 1 language by default ( in the base & mp/base folders file = (language).streamed file )

Will easily fit onto 3xdvd5

I made my own English/Spanish installer on 4 DVD5 without ripping MP. I'm finishing the final compile now, will test the result and if everything goes well wil be posting the Inno Setup script so if anyone needs it can use it to build it's own installer or use it as base...

good job, always nice to see new people posting their handiwork. I'd like to see how you've managed to include MP with it fitting on 4 dvd5's

Well I've finished compiling and got 200MB more than 4DVD5 including english and spanish languages, so I had to change some stuff on my case and left only spanish language doing the proper changes to the game files to load in spanish directly so I guess will be ok. (same methods are valid to make an "any_language_only" installer)

Now it's compiling again and will check when I get home if it worked without problems (I'm almost sure it does). So this way will be possible to make 1 language only release, but it's something atleast. All this was made using max compression setting, didn't want to go higher than that since it has some nasty system requirements to uncompress them...
but, by the other hand... if you have enought PC to run the game, you should have no problems extracting files with ultra or ultra64 compression.

the english/spanish languages combined will not effect whether or not it will fit on 4xdvd5
it still comes out ~250mb over with the MP included in one language. ( at least in my test it did. )

Oh, damn... I haven't go to home yet to check it out, but I don't like what you say :S will have to start thinking about something different then :S

yup, like you said... the files went higher than 4 DVD5, now i'm trying to get it done with FreeARC+InnoSetup but i'm not soo familiar with FreeARC and specially about merging both... but we'll see

And don't expect a miraculous miracle to compress a HUMONGOUS game in mere 2xDVD5, BTW...

just split each 3 setup-*bin into different folder,
burn as image with any label

How to do that? Can you post an example?

not that hard to figure out.. example only dont know the correct filenames.

disk 1 - autorun.inf, icon.ico, setup.exe, setup1a.bin, setup1b.bin, setup1c.bin
disk 2 - autorun.inf, icon,ico, setup2a.bin, setup2b.bin, setup2c.bin
disk 3 - autorun.inf, icon.ico, setup3a.bin, setup3b.bin, setup3c.bin, any updates + cracks

he has no idea of what he is saying... what he says leads to something like 6xDVD5. The only way so far it seems to fit is making it with FreeARC+InnoSetup otherwise you'll get a 5xDVD5 version where you can actually fully include lang pack without problems
