Gray Matter (DVD9 to 1x DVD5) *FULL BACKUP*

1) Install the game

2) Extract 'Gray_Matter_1xDVD5.7z.001-Gray_Matter_1xDVD5.7z.006' archives contents

3) Launch Re-compress.bat & wait...

4) Burn or mount ISO in 'Gray_Matter_DVD5' folder

how big is .iso file after conversion guys?

mine is 4483 MB and 8004 kb oversize

maybe overburn will be ok but also need space for nocd :(

My image does fit, for sure your FreeArc archive is too large.

Wait a minute and i upload another resampled bik that will solve your problem

edit1:
Copy and replace it in 'Video' folder ;)

in the recompress.bat file look for line:

CDIMAGE -l"GRAY_MATTER" -j1 -t11/20/2010 -h -x -o -m ".\Gray_Matter" "Gray_Matter.iso" >nul

the -j1 is for UDF ISO change that to -u2 for NORMAL ISO then save it. As for 12 hours to compress !?!?!
also the Gray Matter folder should still there, just burn the contents of the folder using label GRAY_MATTER.

EDIT: did you also replace the CH5_CS16_Fragment_03B.7z from post #6 to reduce the size of the archive?

EDIT2: I see what you mean after re-running it & sticking around when it starts ! Access Denied IMMEDIATELY after inputting your game folder location.. ( which means it doesnt copy over the video folder to dvd5 conversion folder.

fracicone, 1 way around the access denied issue, at least till peter responds.

Copy the Gray Matter\data\video folder to your Gray_Matter folder which is inside the Gray_Matter_DVD5 folder. Say NO to overwrite.
Then delete it from game folder
Then edit the recompress.bat file
REMOVE the line "move "%choice%\data\Video" .\Gray_Matter\ >nul"
save the file & right-click run as administrator.

The Gray_Matter\Video folder should be 2.99GB, which you can check during the bat file running.

Just one question: is it normal that now the size of the install is 4.92GB?
Video folder is still 2,96GB and the ISO 4.34 GB.

the reason it didnt create the iso, in the recompress.bat file:

CDIMAGE -l"GRAY_MATTER" -j1 -t11/20/2010 -h -x -o -m ".\Gray_Matter" "Gray_Matter.iso" >nul

the -j1 is for UDF ISO change that to -u2 for NORMAL ISO then save it. ( CDIMAGE says that the switch -j1 is not compatable with -x .

Did you also extract the CH5_CS16_Fragment_03B.7z into the video folder ?
that may be where the difference is, mine is 2.99GB with that file.

Did you run the config.exe first ? ( to set video options etc ) before you run the game?

the only thing you may be missing is netframework 2.. from the readme.txt on dvd

--------------------------------------------
!!! Important !!!
--------------------------------------------
It is absolutely essential that Microsoft .Net Framework 2.0
is installed.
The Microsoft .Net Framework 2.0 installation will begin
automatically at the end of the ‘Gray Matter’ installation.

The installation can also be started manually from the ‘Gray Matter’ DVD.
Microsoft .Net Framework 2.0 is located on the ‘Gray Matter’ DVD in the following folder:
\Support\MircrosoftNETFramework.

try it and see if it helps.. the ati should be no problem running the game.

you need 7-zip to open them. go here to download the version for your OS 32/64 bit
