BBA setup trouble

Ok here goes
I cannot get bbrip to connect.
I set my network card's ip 192.168.0.1 and the subnet mask to 255.255.255.0 in the TCP/IP ethernet adapter properties/ip address dialogue box
also tried setting the adapter network address to the same as the ip but that made no odds if it was there or not.

next downloaded the bbpasport iso in english(ish) and set all the settings on the dc acording to sacrilego's bba tutorial and saved it.

burned the dc ipload from xenas site (never had any burning probs)
put it in and noted the mac address.

next started bbrip put in the ip 192.168.0.2 ticked the add to arp box
put in the mac address clicked ok closed bbrip and opened it again then opened a dos box tapped ARP -A and there was the ip and mac address i assigned to the dc.

so far so good

So next put in the ipdcload cdr in the dc wait for the light to come on my hub or nic (tried it both ways) hit the connect button in bbrip and the dc says recieving data and after about 1 minute an error code comes up. if i hit the reboot button in bbrip the dc says idle.
so the pc and dc must be comunicating but not very well.

I have tried 2 pc's one win 98 the other 95b
I have tried a clean install on both pc's
I have tried with a hub and without
I have tried several different cables
I even tried 2 different nic's one a netgear 10/100 and one intel based 10 base
I have also tried all combinations of the above but all do the same thing.

anyone got any ideas cos I've ran out.

thanks in advance Bob

ok, i had same problem. first, go form dc to your nic card (don't use hub or anything). then, be sure it is a CAT5 Crossover cable. if not, it will not connect. also, make sure that you dcload-ip has the ip set to 0.0.0.0 (will see this on your screen when started dcload-ip).

Done that it's just the same.
all i get is a couple of flashes on the tx rx leds on my nic the dc says recieving data and then about a minute later comes up with an error code. If i then hit reboot led's flash again and the dc says idle.

i have tried 3 different Xover cables even bought a brand new today still no different.

The only thing i can think of is the BBA must be dead!

Poor thing only had it 2 weeks.

does anyone know how to set up dreamrip 2 cos I can't get that to work yet either.

I was also wondering if you needed anymore protocols installing other than just tcp/ip as that is all i installed can't think of anything else left to do?

Looks like it back to com port and the cable! yawn.

Mr Bob The One Eyed Sheep 08-04-2001 10:38

Ok got it to connect
All i did was change the ip on the pc side to 100.10.1.1 with a subnet mask of 255.0.0.0 then set up the dc in bbrip to 100.10.1.2

I left the dc set the same as in sacrilego's tute and it connects

The only prob I have now is after you select the tracks you want to dl (missing out 1 and 2) i get an error (error code 04050100)

Does anyone know wot this means or how to fix it

Thanx Bob

linux box 08-04-2001 11:00

hit reboot and then connect. keep doing this until it connects. then, get track list, and try to d/l again. this is common with bbrip, so keep doing it til it downloads... good luck
