Return to castle wolfenstein wont Run in Vista
 

G'day all

I'm currently having major issues getting rtcw to run under vista

can someone maybe patch the exe file up so the damn game will work in vista

Try compatibility mode. Runs fine under Win7 x64 (without compatibility mode), so i see no reason why it's not gonna work under Vista.

It must be something else I ran on Vista long ago and was fine

What error messages do you get?

Yes it's open gl

but on the error message where " the program need to close" chek the part that says " click here for details" and post it

there is no tab for click here for details

it just says wolfsp.exe has stopped working

then it has close

thats all it has

im using windows vista remember not winxp

still can't get it working and theres no error dialex it says wolfsp.exe needs to close and you click on close and thats it theres no error message guess im fucked over

There is a possibility that your combination of hardware hates RTCW.

And have you talked to the publisher/developer about it? And what did they say?

I had no issues running rtcw on vista in compatibilty mode with latest patch, and original exe, i did however have issues with the no-cd crack, which are you using?

I'm using the rtcw game of the year edition which doesn't have a protection.

i also havent had any luck contacting ID software on the issue.
im talking return to castle woflenstein the 2002 one not the new 2009 wolfenstein one.
the 2009 version is the sequel and is the reason why i want rtcw to work mostly.

guess im fucked.

Check Activisions website, since they were the publisher for it way back then.

my mates think im crazy trying to run such on old game on my new 3000 dollar pc with dual 9800GT 1gb video cards but i dont care i wonna play it.
so why i didn't look up activision is beyond me but i'll look em up now.

also thank you dabhand i've noticed you've always been the one to help the most when i've had a problem over the rather long period i've been on this site and so i thought i'd take this chance and thank you

Well we havent always seen eye to eye lol.

The only other possibility is to use something like Virtual PC, or VM Ware and install XP.

Still im not sure why you cant play unless.....

There is no directx 9 elements on your vista machine only DX 10. IF so just install DX9 files from microsofts web installer. And try again.

yeh mate we havent and if we where face to face at the time i probably would have cut your knee caps off.

yeh i have dx10 video card aswell and directx 10.1 installed

i cqan run all my other old directx 9 and directx 8 games just not rtcw so im stuffed i guess.
