Halo 2 on windows XP
 

Hello all, can anyone tell me how to play halo 2 on windows XP?

simple google search halo 2 kind of implies its vista only... what does it say on the back of the box for the system requirements?

I searched on google and I found some results but it's too complicated, so I need your help please

when I run the game a massage appears and it says "the procedure entry point RegGetValueA could not be located in the dynamic link library ADVAPI32.dll"

hmm, odd error message...

again, whats printed on the box? does the box state if the game needs vista or not?

There was a XP loader, dunno if it still is around.

of course i did, and it's written that it needs windows vista, but I heard that it can be played on windows XP, so I bought it and installed it

well, you've got more serious problems than that.. thanks for taking many posts to answer one question though.. great waste of time, what are the specs on the box then?

Minimum supported client Windows Vista, Windows XP Professional x64 Edition

so, you've got imports in the exe which ONLY exist in windows xp x64 (somehow i suspect you're using xp x32.. because you got that error) and vista (or higher).. so to get this game to work in windows xp (x32) you would have to do quite a lot of work , possibly to the extent of having to write some system api's to get it working...

there's a reason it says vista on the box... that being.. it uses (and needs) api's present only in vista or xp x64 (and even then i doubt it will work in xp x64)...

also, why would you buy a game that says on the box it needs vista ?...

but please, humor me, what does it say for the specifications on the box, then i can check further...

I brought Halo 2. You can google to find the file set and instructions.. "Halo_2_XP_Patch_NoGrp". From download this patch, And setting it into your PC, You can play this game on Windows XP.
