H4x0r (again!) Ripped Engine

This isn't intended to start a flame-war or anything, only I know H4x0r frequents this board, so best place to catch him.

It would seem that regardless of whether he rips options or not, the whole 'sicheats' engine, isn't a proprietary one at all, rather Cheat Engine rebranded! Hell, at least give credits to DarkByte that you are using his code. For anyone interest in seeing this for yourself (because i'm not just saying this; there IS proof), fire one of his trainers in olly or something (it's not packed or anything) and have a look at the text strings. Do you see [enable] [disable] which is used in cheat engines auto-assembly engine? Do you also see all the error messages and other strings that are common to CE-generated trainers? And even the .exe size and the fact that PEiD shows delphi with an overlay present. All characteristics of cheat engine. Didn't do a great of covering those up did you?!!

This means then, that actually H4x0r is not even trainerizing his code. Rather, creating the hacks in Cheat Engine, and leaving them in the auto-assembler form, letting it handle all of it! Allocating of memory, calculating offsets automatically ofr code-injection. Wow, what an easy way out, you ripper!

This proves it well and truly. I will be making sure darkbyte is fully apraised of the situation. I wonder how he'd feel to know that his baby has been completely ripped without even a link or a couple of words to note this! I don't know how everyone else feels, but using code in this manner is the lowest of the low. I hope you get what's coming to you, loser.

YOU ARE A DICK N00B! Which is why no-one likes you except your little 'groupies' on your sorry excuse for a website.

Do you understand the nature of open source? The APL requires the sourcecode to be available for anyone that wants it. Do you make that happen, no. Do you give any credits whatsoever no. Do you pass it all off as your own little creation, Hell yeah.

Cool, hold on, my CCleaner app is free... let me just hack about with it for a day or two then post it on the web as my own program... it's free right?!! Run back to cheat engine forums; at least there you'll be in the company of others your age, or rather with the same IQ. And stop ripping people's shit off too. It's well past a joke now.

Not really clear nope. Translators suck I know...

TippeX 13-07-2009 11:57

usually when you use someone elses code, its 'polite' to give them a mention somewhere in the program... even if its open source or not.. and with open source, some licenses do actually apply... gpl etc.. and some vary a lot...

h4x0r # 13-07-2009 12:30

Bullshitter! I have one of your trainers right here. You don't even give that crap note in there... All you've done there is generate a normal CE trainer and post the result.

^Hmm, yeah credits all over this!

But, don't worry, as everyone likes you so much, and your releases are so good, it doesn't matter right?!! H4x0r the great.

can download the guitar hero and watch? and clear of the eggs as they get bored

TippeX 16-07-2009 08:02

doing that would be a VERY bad idea hax0r.. my patience is running VERY thin with your current antics..

jeremy_mccurdy 21-07-2009 18:14

Er, I don't get why there's a huge fuss made over this. The source code is offered up free without any requirement to mention the original creator.

http://www.cheatengine.org/faq.php

Also, his stuff isn't required to be open source because he's not working on his trainers as part of the cheat engine project. That stipulation is only for people who want to contribute to the project.

http://forum.cheatengine.org/viewtopic.php?t=58063

He's not doing anything wrong.

DABhand 21-07-2009 18:40

Because its not mentioned in the FAQ page doesnt mean anyone can do it, its his code and therefore common sense prevails that you give props to the person. Its common courtesy.

Ahh, so if I wanted to help with cheat engine, i'd have to give proper accreditation, but if I ripped it off and showcased it as my own creation and started doing independant releases in it, then that's perfectly fine?! Yeah, coz that makes sense...

Being courteous, and doing what's required are two separate things. Sure, h4x0r isn't being courteous, which is a dick move, but it's not the huge terrible crime that some people are making it out to be. If the creator of CE really wanted people to mention him, he would have written down said stipulation. Or he could have gone for a creative commons license, or written up a GPL license.

And if it really is such a big deal, why not contact the creator of CE and get his input? Right now it just seems like people are making a stink about h4x0r for being kind of a jerk, but not really doing anything wrong.

Also [Psych]: He's not ripping it off if the CE creator doesn't actually care if people do that.
