how to extract a .dat file?
greetings, everyone. could anyone be so kind as to indicate me a tutorial on how to extract the contents of a .dat file? what software application is one supposed to use? i just cannot seem to find the appropriate one? stay cool

The extension ".dat" (general data file) means nothing at all; you can't tell its format or the application that created it without actually looking into the file.

Joe, that's exactly my problem. I simply don't know how to "look into" the file. It's a file from a game called Richard Burns Rally and I know it contains the audio files of the game. I tried to open the file with notepad. It didn't look good but I got a glimpse of the contents (wav, scc and ini files). In order to update the audio of this incredible game, I have to be able to extract the contents of the audio.dat file. can you help me out? peace, bro
