World of Warcraft - Wrath of the Lich King

WOW : Wrath of Lich King DVD9 into 2XDVD5 ( MULTI )

1. Create 2 folders.

2. Name them as "LKDisc1" and "LKDisc4"

3. Copy all files except "Installer Tome 4.mpq" and "Installer Tome 5.mpq" from the original DVD to "LKDisc1" folder.

4. Burn all the files in the folder "LKDisc1" to a DVD. Volume label for this DVD will be "LKDisc1". This will be your first DVD and setup disc.

5. Copy "Installer Tome 4.mpq" and "Installer Tome 5.mpq" to the "LKDisc4" folder. If needed copy the Autorun and Icon files too... In this case do not forget to edit the Autorun.inf as below...

[autorun]
open=0
icon=disc.ico

6. Burn all the files in the folder "LKDisc4" to a DVD. Volume label for this DVD will be "LKDisc4". This will be your second DVD.

7. That's it... Install and Enjoy the game :)

Install Sequence DVD1 - DVD2

Tested and Works Fine :D

Silverdoe,

I found that if you replace the DirectX.cab file in the DirectX directory with a 0 length file, that this then seems to go past the DirectX part of the installation.

Final size of the first DVD then will be just under the limit of a DVD5 disk.

Apart from that, Zanfer's instructions are spot on.

how to make a 0 length cab file? I'm noob

JediNite 10-01-2009 03:51

silverdoe,

Delete the original DirectX.cab file, right click in the directory and select "New Text Document" and then rename that file to DirectX.cab...

Make sure that you have Windows Explorer set to display file extensions otherwise the file might name itself DirectX.cab.txt in which case this will still fail to work...

I don't think the contents of the file matter... Just it's presence..

Cheers,

JediNite

It doesn't fit when you have movies.mpq on Disc1. There are errors...

post a screenshot showing your 2 dvd5's

World of WarCraft
Wrath of the Lich King
DVD9 to 2xDVD5

Works for both enGB and enUS versions

Conversion is almost the same as Zanfer posted it, I am just filling the blanks. Credits go mostly to him.

By default, original files of this installation are hidden, what you need to do is:
open my computer, click on falling menu
Tools -> Folder Options -> View -> select option "Show hidden files and folders". Click on OK and you can start.

1. Create 2 folders with names "LKDisc1" and "LKDisc4".

2. Copy whole content from original disk to folder "LKDisc1".

3. Select all files and folder, do Right Click with your mouse, go to Properties and un-check option "Hidden". Click OK and confirm with OK on next window.

4. Move files "Installer Tome 4.mpq", "Installer Tome 5.mpq" and "Movies.mpq" from folder "LKDisc1" to folder "LKDisc4".

5. Copy folder DirectX and files autorun.inf and disc.ico from folder "LKDisc1" to folder "LKDisc4".

6. Open autorun.inf in "LKDisc4" and paste next:
Code:

[autorun]
open=0
icon=disc.ico

Close and save changes.

7. Burn all the files in the folder "LKDisc1" with Volume Label "LKDisc1".
Burn all the files in the folder "LKDisc4" with Volume Label "LKDisc4".

Install Sequence DVD1 - DVD2

Well, last posts were from March and pakrat2k2 asked for file structure of DVD5 disks. I was re-installing the game and wanted to make backups of originals so, it all came along...

Anyhow, I hope it helped.

tsk tsk Tip lol .... I welcome any 're-written' conversion which explains things more clearly. It also makes my job easier when cleaning and sorting this forum . :)

btw .... nice work 'HellRazor' ;)

the more the merrier, makes it easier on those who do post the conversions, if more people join in. Multiple people with different ideas on how to do a conversion, just makes the forum better.
