Just as illegal as a butter knife (you can stab people with it) or a family car (you can commit hit & run with it) or a peer-to-peer software (you can download stuff other than Linux ISO's with it ;))...

I believe its not illegal. Its a freeware that so happen that its use freely to mount image file that is against copyright i think.

DAEMON Lite is freeware, DAEMON Pro is sharewhare and YES its not illegal

DAEMON tools is not illegal though it helps a Cracker in detecting the protection of the game...

DAEMON tools is an Image mounting tool - but it only mounts images that are not protected...it blacklists the images if there is any sort of protection within it...

So crackers ask you to use anti-detect tools like YASU, StarFucker, etc that prevent DAEMON from Blacklisting - so thus these tools are illegal.

That is wrong, DT is more than capable of mounting an image with protection intact. Its the protection that blacklists DT :P

no, daemon tools helps by emulating the disk signature that the protection is looking for...

wrong again.. daemon tools does NOT do the blacklisting, the protection does that...put simply the protection companies do not like emulation of their disk signatures

the crackers don't ask you to do anything of the sort... crackers crack the protection.. thus the game will have no protection.. so why would they ask you to run yasu etc?

crackers = the people who remove the protection from the game

what you are talking about is people who release images of the game (which is illegal)

so, before you open your mouth again and look like an idiot, do some research first...

the actual true answer to this question is that the answer is HEAVILY dependant on the laws in the country you are in.. in most countries, daemon tools is NOT illegal.

No it is not illegal at all but yea man people use it in illegal way tht's the illegal thing...but yea deamon tool is very helpful... i love it a lot..
