Left 4 Dead - Recompressing Bink videos

I got a version from Left 4 Dead seized 4.7G. I searched the entire DVD and the Intro movie size is around 280M. If I can recompress it I can make it fit in one DVD.
But I don't know how.
How can I recompress a bik file?

See the RAD Video Tools for all kinds of Bink-related stuff.

Thanks
It worked very well
Now I don't need to delete any other file =)

This game fits on 1 DVD5 anyhow there shouldn't be a need to do anything to it. it is 4.2GB and I have made a backup of my own already with a 1-1 copy and didn't remove anything at all.

In Brazil, custom Brazilian releases of games are quite usual.

omega59 ... can u list out what is inside the dvd ?
because mine also 4.46GB cannot fit in 1 dvd ... hmmm
hope got file can delete ... by the way may i know if the intro movie compress already got any different ?

Intro is the Key

What I did was to recompress the Intro movie. I just made it 60%(or around it dont remember exactly) of the original quality. It made no difference at all.
Use RAVD Tools as Joe told and you gonna take some time to do it. All other files remain the same.

if u non PRo users then never mess with complicated conversion
left4dead cost [for me] 120 and 2xdvd5 verbatim 16x cost=no more than 4

wonder why some ppl wants to create 1xdvd5 abd have some easy problem with conversion

Funny..If you own the game & have infact installed it with your game you can use the inbuilt program to make an installer than can be spread over what ever disk size you choose..My Steam L4D install is 4.7GIG but when using steam to back it up..( right click game in main steam window) & select backup game files...Then choose DVD5 & it will compress it to a single installer that is only 2.4gig in size..

So to recap the only way this will not work is if you DONT own the game..:) EXTRA info..It compresses at a ratio of about 50% as ive backed up Counter Strike Source & L4D & it still fit to a single disk..

But for backing up purpose I would suggest you Reinstall steam somewhere new & then re download L4D or install it & that way you can back up just that game. This can be done even if you bought the CD version as its the key that activates the game not the disk..

It also works if you simply pack the whole Steam folder into multivolume archives. I did a clean install of Windows three times in the past two years, and I'm still using the same Steam folder (it doesn't complain if the registry entries are missing, it will create them automatically).

Of course, "official" backup routine is good thing for most games (not for Trackmania Forever since it doesn't use .gfc files and restoring the game from backup actually means downloading the whole game again), but if someone wants to preserve savegames, settings etc, (s)he can simply backup entire Steam folder.

My steam folder is OLD..HaHa well my old one was I did refresh everything about 4 weeks ago..But before that it was first installed when they brought it out for CS 1.6..Not sure how long ago that was..

Open RAD Video Tools.
Select the BIK Intro file from the DVD.
Click on Bink It at the Rad program.
Fairly visible there is an option called "Compress to a % of the original". Change it to 60 and click on bink.
