Kane & Lynch Dead Men (DVD9 to DVD5)
 

It's quite simple:

1) Create 2 temp folders called DISK1 and DISK2, which are the labels you will use to create the ISOs or burn the data DVDs;
2) Copy the complete content of the game DVD into the folder DISK1;
3) Create in folder DISK2 this folder structure
Program Files\Eidos\Kane and Lynch Dead Men\Movies
just like the one present in original disk;
4) MOVE from Program Files\Eidos\Kane and Lynch Dead Men\ to same folder on DISK2 these files:
PC_DEF.STR
PC_GER.STR
PC_ITA.STR
PC_SPA.STR
PC_FRE.STR

and from Program Files\Eidos\Kane and Lynch Dead Men\Movies these files also to DISK2 same folder:
ATTRACT03.BIK
ATTRACT03_GERMAN.BIK
M00_INTRO_SPANISH.BIK
M00_INTRO.BIK
5a) Edit Kane and Lynch Dead Men.msi with ORCA
In the media tab add a 2nd disk ID, last sequence 471, label DISK2, prompt 2;
5b) In the FILE tab in ORCA order files by FILESIZE, scroll down, you will see ALL 9 files you moved to DVD#2 grouped together, only there is a MAIN.ZIP file there between INTRO_SPANISH.BIK and ATTRACT03_GERMAN.BIK; just modify the sequence attribute of those files like this:

Save. Burn or make isos (remember labels are DISK1 and DISK2).
Test but I can confirm it works flawlessly.

NOTE: This is my 1st post so sorry if it's not formatted properly.
Remember to add the usual Autorun.ini that doesn't open anything to DVD2 if you wish and always make the isos, mount them on virtual dvd and test
before wasting medias :D

Sorry for my bad english lang! ;)

Completely empty BIK files may cause crashes; use my CutBink instead to keep the first N frames of a BIK file and cut off the remainder.

Ripped all the non-English movies out and recompressed the English ones to 40%, went through the msi file with Orca and removed any reference to the foreign language files (you're right, lots of error messages otherwise) and it fits on a DVD5 and installs fine. Thanks for the conversion.:)

Seems that quickest way is freemans way :D my brain isn't working right now just had to make it hardest way but i like my backups nice and tidy without any unnecessary files, even zero byte files.

For those who don't want to keep any bik files then replace them with blank.bik and replace PC_fre.str, PC_ger.str, PC_spa.str, PC_ita.str files with 0 byte file and change EnableLangDlg=Y to N in Setup ini so it won't prompt for selecting language when you start to install

It should fit on dvd5 then.

[1] download my rar file: Attachment 1326

[2] make a folder called disk1 & copy the contents of the dvd9 to it

[3] double click the rar file & drag the contents into the disk1 folder

[4] burn the disk using the volume label disk1

extra notes: In step 3 if your not asked to click yes to the over writing of files you've done it wrong..not tested yet

Kane and Lynch DVD 9 to 2x DVD 5:

1) Create 2 Temp folders on your hardrive.
Name one folder: DISK1 This will be the name (Label) of DVD1.
Name the other folder: DISK2 This will be the name (Label) of DVD2.

2) Copy all the contents of the Kane and Lynch DVD9 disc to the DISK1 folder and replace original .msi file with modified one.
3) Move folder Scenes and files PC_Def.str and PC_Eng.str (from program files\Eidos\Kane and Lynch Dead Men on DISK1)
to the same folder on DISK2 (you have to create it manually).

4) Now create ISO files and use labels DISK1 and DISK2.

Small problems:
Autorun runs again when mounting DISK1 second time.
And the game starts automatically after finishing installation (which ends with error - you can probably replace launcher.exe in program files\Eidos\Kane and Lynch Dead Men on DISK1 with cracked one - ... and the game runs after you click Finish)

And one more thing.
I added the icons for DVDs which the original does not have.
If you want them, copy this file to the root -->

(it's only 13kb) and edit autorun.inf to look like this:

ENGLISH ONLY with few biks kept

Well i made my version more like freemans now, but keeping intro and trailer bik, using Loader_Sequence.wav to replace non-english wavs (All of them, freemans version just few) and PC_Eng.str to replace non-english str. So no deleting, msi editing and compressing, like my old conversion (what works for me atleast)

and all of this is automated for you, no need to go through all folders and replacing wavs, just for making room for few biks, and neither would i. Renames Launcher.exe to Launcer.exe.bak and replaces it with cracked one. Edits to setup.ini and autorun.inf are automated too.

Rar includes only three files kanelynch.bat, blank.bik (1280x720 1frame, made from original bik) and Launcher.exe

This was made just for fun, to make conversion with few possible files, rather than providing rar to overwrite those files

copy dvd content to KANE_LYNCH folder, extract rar there, run KANELYNCH.BAT (deletes it self and all files it makes after conversion is made)
Edit Setup.ini and change "EnableLangDlg=Y" to "EnableLangDlg=N" and "count=5" to "count=1"
make ISO and install, let me know if any errors occur. DVD SIZE: 4,30gb

Conversion...

...keeps these videos: M00_Intro.bik (which starts the story, game begins where intro left), Trailer.bik (Well its trailer, kept because it fits on dvd after deleting other biks :) and its same as attract01.bik)
...replaces these videos: Attract01.bik, Attrack02.bik, Attrack03.bik (These are more like trailers, these loops in "press space" menu and aren't nothing important) and of course replaced different language variants of attract and intro videos

You can watch/make bik videos with RAD Video Tools, and i suggest to watch at least videos before conversion what will be replaced

EDIT: Here is the batch script used in conversion, if that download link stop working, do this

Needed files, cracked Launcher.exe (download from GCW) and Blank.bik (make one from original bik with RAD Video Tools with settings Frame range: Start: 0 End: 1, rename it blank.bik)
Open notepad and copy paste code into it, save as kanelynch.bat
Put these files to your KANE_LYNCH folder and run kanelynch.bat
Delete blank.bik and kanelynch.bat
Edit setup.ini and change "EnableLangDlg=Y" to "EnableLangDlg=N" and "count=5" to "count=1"

later i add what manual need to do to do this conversion [but when i have more free time]
