CD-R and CD RW

I just started yesterday to burn the CD's, While burning using nero7 post single burn it makes u erase the complete CD without doing a selected write. I am using a CD RW type of media.
What is the difference between CD-R and CD+- RW
Pls do advise..
regards
Stephanie

RW is rewritable can be used to a possibly 1000 times.

R is write once only.

Solution

Hi DABhand,

Don't worry.
CD- R means only onces you can write on it but at writing time you select re use so it provide you to write next time.
And CD-RW means you can use it atleast 50 times if its from good company...
The better way is use CD-R for best performance..

cd-r = write once, read many.. unless you mean using the disk as a multi session, in which case its STILL write once.. as the sector is ONLY written to once EVER

cd-rw = 1000 writes per sector, after that it can fail

so you're a bit off there stivemak:)

>.~ damn why does nobody read anything anymore :P

well i did, but i thought a copy/paste showed i didn't so i just rephrased things, but stivemak is definately mistaken in his understanding (or misunderstanding really) of the definitions :)
