cd-2-dvd off
What happened to the site http://www.cd-2-dvd.com/?
|
Nothing has happened, its still there. Why do you ask? Do you have a problem entering the site? If so please let me know. ;)
|
I'm having problems entering the site, every time that I try to enter, the web browser shows me this error:
Code:
403 Forbidden |
Your firewall/proxy/antivirus/ISP may be blocking the site, thinking it's malicious...

Thanks for the answers, it seems to be that my ISP is blocking the web page. But I can access anyway using a web proxy, I will only use one in the meantime that this problem is fixed...

Its upto the ISP what they give access to. You are only renting a line from them, so if they want you to stay away from warez sites they can, and porn (well known sites).
And its not Illegal. |

edit: while some internet providers may openly discourage illegal activites, they are not a police force to enforce them, therefore unless a court order says otherwise you are free to make surfing choices yourself. |

alternatively try accessing it as www.cd-2-dvd.com without the / at the end, if that doesn't work try accessing it by its ip... |

In Hungary, some ISP gave a big head ache to torrent users by severely limiting the download speed on some ports. (Yes, I think it was a plain port filter only. I don't think they could analyze packets, as that would require a lot of computing power, so this could be circumvented by using non-standard ports.) There was a scandal and, I think, they... khm... reconsidered their opinion on the subject. ;) So, yeah, give them hell - they're not an authority to tell you where to surf.

In my case, my ISP is Telefonica. Telefonica is very known for being one of the biggest ISP providers in Spain and Latin America (I'm from Chile), and it's also famous too for being one of the most restrictive ISPs available. Unfortunately, they are the only ones to offer Internet Service in my town, so I have to stick with them.
Telefonica also had given troubles with Torrent and P2P ports, had given slower speed connections than the ones promised and had block a lot of other sites without no reason (including this one). I had already make 2 complaints to them and none of them have been answered, so I'm just wasting my time calling them. Those are the disadvantages of living in a third world country... But anyway, I'll stick to the proxy, I'll surf wherever I want because those are my consumer rights. Thanks for all the answers. My problem is solved. |

/start-slapping Bad Grumpy for not realising I was talking in General about ISP's and blocking sites. /end-slapping I know cd-2-dvd aint a warez site, but tell that to ISP's who might think it is, but it was a general comment I was making that ISP's can and will block you from an IP range if they wished. |
