Having problems installing Mortyr 2093-1944 on WinXp
 
I just decided on installing a RETAIL version of MORTYR 2093-1944 on a WinXp Prof PC, but I can't install it each time when I do setup always states that its unable to open 5 files, these files are:

MAIN.HAL
INTRO.AVI
MIRAGE.AVI
OUTRO.AVI
HD.AVI



Before I installed for the first time, I set up the Compatability Mode on the setup exe in the cd. to Win98 When that didn't work I got rid of the Compatability Mode to see if that is the problem. When that also didn't work I tried copying the entire CD to my desktop and tried installing from there, but that didn't work as well. So I'm asking you guys have any ideas in fixing this problem.

Copy the files off the CD like this and then edit the file DATA\cdrom.std so that it contains "." (a single period, 1 byte). (Mine also has the 1.10 UK patch installed and the appropriate crack - see GCW - applied.) It should work without actual installation, registry entries, whatever. (At least, the last time I checked, it did. ;))

Thanks for the info Joe Forster. I just copied the CD again and as it turns out there is no CDROM.STD in the data folder.
there is just these files:

1.bmp
2.bmp
3.bmp
4.bmp
5.bmp
6.bmp
Interplay.avi
mirage.avi
setup.bmp
tlo.bmp


And also I got the US version, not the UK version. Plus there is no MORTYR.exe in the CD.
